Canadian sports fans are some of professional hockey’s most fanatical supporters. As soon as they can walk, the little ones are pushed out onto the ice on frozen ponds across the country. So it’s no surprise that two of their biggest fans wanted to include the Vancouver Canucks in preparations for their matrimonial union.

Vancouver Canucks Wedding Party

Casey and Nate planned an amazing wedding with references to their favorite professional hockey team sprinkled throughout the day.  Vancouver Canucks shades of blue and green were used to accent the black and white formal attire of the bridal party with alternating sashes and ties. Bouquets were created with blue and white flowers using the green stems to complete the Vancouver Canucks color scheme.  The couple even went a step further in their wedding preparations by temporarily converting a room in their house into a “hockey locker room” so the groom and his groomsmen could prepare for the big game like professionals.

Casey and Nate exchanged their vows in front of friends and relatives at Northview Golf and Country Club in BC on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  Their ceremony was traditional in nature with a few references to their favorite sport, but when guests arrived at the wedding reception, the celebration really got into full gear.  The festivities began at Northview with an introductory video rivaling any hockey team’s Jumbotron intro.  Pregame bridal party player interviews were intermixed with wedding day footage  to prepare guests for the introduction of the newly married couple.  Guests responded with a Towel Power ovation that would have made former Canucks head coach Roger Neilson proud.

Lord Stanley’s Cup made several appearances throughout their wedding day.  It was carried in during the ceremony by ring/cup bearer, Ethan, with the couple’s wedding bands inside.  At the wedding reception it was created in butter crème frosting and fondant by Alex at Spiritual Ingredients in White Rock, BC. The top of the cake was made out of rice crispie treats to ensure that the shape of the cup held up through the night.  Finally, an ice sculpture of professional hockey’s most coveted prize accented the head table.

The couple’s creativity really shines through in the guest favors, decorations and accessories they created to help accent their special day.  Armed with a Pinterest account and a creative spirit, Casey and Nate employed the talents of family and friends to help develop some truly unique accents.  Their invitations were designed by, Soma Graphics from Richmond, BC, along with a couple of custom logos that were used throughout the day.  These were actually designed by the bride herself.  As parting gifts, each guest took home limited edition Casey and Nate shot glasses, custom hockey pucks, collectable pins, and bottle openers.
